Flies in the Rounds Shack

(A Vietnam War story regarding Flies, 1971)

This was a warm afternoon inside the rounds dump, in the ammo shack-consisting of 2 rooms, walls manufactured out of plywood, floors or inlays of long wood made boards-flat timber for the most part, you could see by means of their cracks, put crooked alongside one particular another; also the shack was a smite lopsided, nearly wobbly, and quite broken. Planted about four by 4 beams beneath the floorboards, about a 50 percent foot high, between the soft white fine sand that surrounded that, providing an playground for the lizards to engage in fun, unnoticed.

12 gauge ammo carried a semi aged ‘Stars and Whitening strips, ‘ magazine with me when I experienced to see a rounds shack (where all of us soldiers did our own paperwork for aide and distributing associated with ammunition towards the convoys arriving from various locations in the area.

I carried that will old ‘Stars and Strips, ‘ publication for a 30 days, until an innovative one came out and about, and used that to swish apart flies. They were just about everywhere in the ammo shack-we were infested together, with their particular buzzing around while if we were invaders: fat and thin bellied files; some dark other folks light shads of dark, long and even short winged lures, biting your arms and face, and even ears, behind your current neck, swarming close to you, sneaking the shirt sleeves, scuba diving into your eye as though they have been small punishing missiles, trained by the Vietcong to annoy you. -me, us!

There are dead or passing away flies, also strolling flies on all the three desks within the two rooms of the shack, filling the atmosphere with putrid debris, aiming towards one’s mouth, although quite content should they missed, and basically landed on your current lips. They polluted everything, clinging, plus climbing, as well as many crawling, within their quickest gait possible, especially the big fats bellied ones, they would try to get away but I would swat them, sadly leaving a dumpy-bloody mess, I really tried to simply frighten them away, but like I mentioned before-or implied, we were holding already brained cleaned and ready to be able to sacrifice their existence for the result in.
